There is a small forgotten part of Bulgaria which is depopulating and disappearing. There is a sad term for it in the state-administrative stylistics. Where once life was boiling, patriotism and glorious traditions of goodness were cultivated, now there are disappearing villages left, with less than 200 inhabitants, mostly elderly people. Many of them - lonely, sick, suffering, resigned.

The Vidin region is an example of this part of Bulgaria. According to data from the social services, over 2 000 socially disadvantaged people, over 2 431 single elderly people, and 160 large families live in this area. They mostly inhabit villages with 50 to 150 inhabitants near the towns of Vidin, Kula, Belogradchik, Dunavtsi, Dimovo, Bregovo. They struggle a lot in their daily life, and they don't even have first aid. There is no doctor or paramedic in these villages, not even a pharmacy. In the small, disappearing villages, life is very difficult, and the feeling of loneliness and oblivion gets to the people a lot. Prof. Vili Lilkov, MP from The Reformist Bloc in the Vidin region says that people should not feel abandoned. He is the main initiator of the "First aid kit at home" donation campaign, which started specifically from the "disappearing villages" in the Vidin region.
