29.04.2013 "AVENDI" donates 22,000 lv. for establishing a historical memory of 50 streets in Sofia

Emblematic figures and events of the Bulgarian history, which streets and boulevards in Sofia are named after will be present with a description of information on specific signs placed at key locations in the Sofia. This is a pilot project for the city and the country. The placement of the signs will start in a month thanks to a target donation in the amount of 22 thousand lv. made by "AVENDI" - a leading company for distribution of FMCG, part of VM Finance Group.

The news were announced at a meeting between Mayor Yordanka Fandakova and Alexandra Mirtcheva, member of the Board of Directors of VM Finance Group, attended also by Dr. Todor Tchobanov, Deputy Mayor of Sofia and councilor Villas Lilkov. The pilot project includes 50 streets of the city center including the Boulevards "Vasil Levski", "Skobelev", the streets "Aksakov", "August 11" and many others. By the will of the donor the signs will be both in English and Bulgarian and will provide information about historical person or event associated with the name of the street.

The goal is to empower citizens and visitors to be aware of significant historical facts. Practice of placing such information boards have long been established in other cities around the world. With its launch in Bulgaria, the company "AVENDI" expresses its support for the candidature of Sofia for European Capital of Culture in 2019, and for projects related to sustainability and sustainable development. At the end of the meeting mayor Yordanka Fandakova thanked Alexandra Mircheva. on behalf of the municipality and the citizens of Sofia for funding the project.
